“10 million doses of a vaccine against COVID-19 will be available in Morocco” Said Azeddine Ibrahimi the director of the biotechnology laboratory of the faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Rabat on Tuesday.
King Mohammed VI have not yet set a specific date for the launch of the vaccination campaign. He only mentioned that it will be available “in the upcoming weeks”. However, Moroccan media said it could be available or likely start mid-December.
King Mohammed’s decision was based largely on the advice of the National Scientific Committee which highlighted that the vaccination campaign was a real response to put an end to acute phase of the pandemic.
Azeddine Ibrahimi told local media that the first phase of the campaign will prioritize health experts, national security personnel and local authorities.
The second phase will cover old people, and people who have chronic diseases and pathologies.
“according to the priorities. This is something essential that will pave the way for getting the vaccine down the road. No company is going to risk offering a vaccine that is not very good, because it will ruin their entire business,” He stated.
Ibrahimi expressed hope to see all Moroccans, particularly those with chronic diseases and the elderly involved in this campaign, for he believes that it will protect them.
